Daisy Eau So Fresh Sorbet

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Sorbet 75ml

I really like fragrances by Marc Jacobs and they have always made a regular appearance on my dressing table, the latest addition to my perfume collection is the Daisy Eau So Fresh Sorbet which is an adaptation of the original Daisy fragrance.

To start the bottle is just beautiful and has the signature decorative daisies in shades of pink and purple. This is the perfect summer scent of fruit and flowers with a real sense of freshness. With top notes of Lotus flower, mandarin and apple blossom it has a subtle sweetness amongst a soft musk. The heart notes of Jasmine and Magnolia give that warming, floral tone and I feel really uplifted when wearing this. It lingers throughout the day which makes it ideal for wearing in the sunshine and in the Summer nights.

The Body Shop Oils of Life

*PR samples

It's time to get excited  because The Body Shop have created a new range of stunning products to be released later this year! The 'Oils of Life' collection has been developed to help revive and repair skin with Egyptian black cumin seed, Chilean rosehip seed and Chinese camellia seed oils as the key active ingredients. I had the opportunity to trial 3 of the 4 products to be released and so far I have been pleasantly impressed. At first glance the collection looks extremely high end, I really like the simplicity of the packaging and the gold detailing. All of the products share the same fragrance which is divine and could easily be mistaken for spa treatments. These are perfect for self-pampering and for generally giving your skin a well deserved treat.

Catalyst PR A/W Preview Event

Last Friday I attended the Catalyst PR Autumn/Winter preview event held at the Orangery in Cavendish Square, London. This was my first press day that I had been invited to as a blogger and I was over the moon to be on the guest list amongst press and other aspiring beauty bloggers. The event was an opportunity for clients to introduce new launches and give professional advise on existing products. From hair care to skin care, make up and nails, there was a huge variety of cosmetics to explore and I was able to network with brand representatives who were all just so lovely. After such an insightful and great day with Catalyst I was lucky enough to walk away with some amazing goodies which I plan to review over the next few weeks, so watch this space!

Hair by Sleek are passionate about hair and strive to create both quality and ethical products including synthetic and human hair extensions and hair pieces. Available in a range of shades and can be coloured and styled to your preference.

Summer Ready Legs with Veet Natural Inspirations

*PR sample

Now that Summer is in full swing it is no surprise that us girls are all striving for the perfect pins and to look our best. Hair removal can be a tedious task this time of year, we're baring our legs more so than usual and eagerly de-fuzzing ready to jet off on our holidays and to strut our stuff in the sunshine. For my hair removal routine I have always chosen to shave as I find waxing too painful and have not got the courage to epilate, however using razors so often causes razor burn and in-grown hairs which gives me great discomfort. This Summer I have discovered the perfect product to maintain hair free legs between shaving without the fuss!

Nanokeratin System BeFri Brush

*PR sample

When it comes to caring for my hair there is one thing I have been ignoring and that is the quality of my hair brush. I'm very cautious of how I treat my hair, I make as much effort as I can to thoroughly condition it and I try my best to protect it from heat damage but it never really occurred to me how my current hairbrush could be doing more wrong than good.

Nanokertain System specialises in professional hair care and hair technology, creating innovative ways to treat and repair hair. They are launching this new kinematic 'BeFri Brush' which has been developed to improve the health of your hair whilst giving it a smoother appearance. The unique design of the brush allows it to comb through with ease, loosening tangles without pulling on knots. This product claims to condition the hair as you use it to give locks glossy and soft.

I have very long hair and that does come with the burden of split ends and knotted strands which can be a nightmare to comb out especially with the bleached areas of my hair. Initially I thought there was no way this brush would work for me but I was certainly mistaken! This brush is incredible, after my first use I was completely amazed at how it performed and it has completely changed my perspective of hair brushes.

The 8 free-moving arms of the brush are connected to 142 super-flexible and anti-static bristles to help keep the hair looking sleek and frizz free. The overall structure is perfect for blow drying as it allows hot hair to vent through to the roots making it faster for the hair to dry. To use the product effectively it needs to be used both vertically and horizontally and can be used on both dry and wet hair. It's super light weight and is a breakthrough in hair care!

The BeFri brush sells at £19.99 and will be stocked on:

MI/MCI Allergy Update

It's been over a year since I posted upon my allergy to Methylisothiazolinone (MI) and Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) (read here). Many of you found it really helpful and it opened my eyes to see just how serious and common this allergy is. As a beauty blogger, this allergy has restricted me from using certain products, which ultimately mean's I am unable to trial and review some of the most popular cosmetics out there. When it comes to make up, hair and skincare I have the endless nuisance of having to read the ingredients - not always displayed - or having to research online beforehand so that I know it is safe for me to use.

Over the last year I have come to realise that this allergy effects people of all ages and what's worst about that is that it effects poor young children. MI/MCI is famously known for being found in baby wipes, which of course are used on babies and toddlers with sensitive skin. I've seen pictures of horrific skin reactions, most commonly on the face and hands and it can't go on. I think that is such a shame that brands aren't taking the matter more seriously and so I took it in my stride to contact a few of the brands I have had personal bad cases with, to address the problem.

Here are three of the responses I received, others chose not to comment or didn't respond at all:

Response from The Sanctuary:

Response from L'Oreal:

Response from Nivea:

Although I was pleased that these brands had taken the time to reply, I am still not entirely convinced they understand the seriousness of allergy and how badly people are reacting to MI/MCI. From some of the emails, the overall attitude I felt was 'it's only a minority not a majority, so we're not going to do anything about it any time soon'. I was however relieved to hear that some brands have recognised the issue and are making plans to take MI/MCI out of their products in due course and already I have noticed action taking place.

Even though I have kept my allergy under control and know what to avoid coming into contact with, I still have the fear of reacting to something without warning which is why there needs to be a stop in the use of MI/MCI!

I hope this post has been helpful to some of you who commented on my last and I'd to think we won't have to suffer much longer.

Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Blemish Stick

*PR sample

I suffer from monthly break outs and there is nothing more annoying than having to deal with pesky pimples that just won't budge. I have a very strict skincare routine to keep my face clear and cared for however I don't have anything that targets spots directly to remove them instantly. Now that it is Summer and my face has caught some colour, I want to avoid wearing foundation and therefore need to maintain a blemish free complexion. Since returning from a recent holiday my skin took a slight turn due to the London smog clogging my pores and I couldn't have received this product at a better time.

John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray

John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray - £6.99

When Summer comes around, all I want is sun kissed skin and tousled locks. Over the years my hair has become naturally straight and I often have to heat style my hair to create volume and waves, that is until I discovered this hair revelation.

I'm not going to lie, I did buy this product purely because it smells like coconut and if you don't know by now I'm obsessed with anything coconut. I do however love the beach hair look and wanted to see if this would perform as well as it claims. To apply, I spray onto towel dry hair, twisting it into sections as advised and then run my fingers through to create shape. I find this product is more effective when I leave my hair to air dry as opposed to rough drying with a hair drier but if you have more natural bounce to your hair then dry as normal. After each use my hair does literally feel like it would after a day at the beach, there's significant added texture and oomph.

For best results, like to sleep with damp hair tied in a fishtail braid, then once dry in the morning I apply the spray focusing on the ends. I also choose to use the spray to add volume to my hair when I'm low on hairspray. This product is lightweight and doesn't leave sticky residue on the hair, it's easy to wash out however with long hair it is slightly tedious to brush out needless to say this is definitely a summer essential!
