GlossyBox: Beauty Blossom

This is my first introduction to this brand and I didn't really know what to expect from this body cream but so far I am rather impressed. This is a smooth, creamy lotion enriched with organic ingredients including honey, Shea butter and natural oils of lavender and almonds. I choose to apply this before bed as I find that the fragrance really helps me to unwind and relax for a good nights sleep. My skin is left feeling lovely and soft after every use, definitely a good first impression.

Happy Mothers Day!

Every time Mother's Day comes around I always want to give my mum something she loves but with a personal touch. Gifts are a sentiment and shouldn't cost you the bank, it can be so easy to buy on a budget no matter what the occasion! This year I decided to get a little creative and make my own little 'MumsyBox' inspired by my monthly beauty box subscription GlossyBox. I have actually used this idea before for a friends birthday present, it's a great way of reusing my ever increasing supply of empty boxes and filling them up with wonderful bits and bobs.

Neal's Yard - This is a brand that my mum has liked for as long as I can remember and throughout the week leading up to Mother's Day, O2 Priority had a unique offer that entitled customers to a free 50ml sample of the Power Berry daily moisturiser worth £12!

LUSH - Who doesn't love a little treat or two from Lush? For the occasion I picked up the 'Mumkin' bubble bar which is just darling. I also purchased a long time favourite of mine, the 'Think Pink' bath bomb which creates the prettiest of baths.

Yankee Candle - My mum and I lust over Yankee Candles all the time but they're not exactly affordable. Clintons offer 25% off their Yankee 'fragrance of the month' which isn't the biggest discount but is a saving nevertheless. This month's scent was 'Midnight Jasmine' which is absolutely gorgeous and really compliments a cool Spring evening.

I hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day!

Rituals Himalaya Wisdom

Rituals Himalaya Wisdom detox Himalaya scrub salt - £16.00

This is the second time my Mum has asked to feature her own review here on Beauty Blah Blah Blah, and of course I was more than happy for her to. Rituals is a brand that her and I both love and there is one particular product that she wants you all to know about!

"I have been searching for a decent body scrub for ages and must have bought dozens but they never seem to do the job on tough old middle-aged skin! Either the granules dissolve in seconds or are way to big to polish the skin. Well at last Rituals have produced the perfect body scrub, fine pink authentic Himalayan salt with oils and Holy Basil to give it a zing and tone the skin. A truly revitalising experience that leaves even the scaliest of skin soft and glowing. Total bargain at £16 as you don't need a lot at all."

Superdrug Coconut Oil

Superdrug Coconut Oil - £2.29

I love anything Coconut and this has fast become my most reached for product. I'm constantly reading upon the wonders of Coconut oil, whether it be for cooking, using on the skin or as a hair treatment, and so I went on the hunt to get my hands on some and came across this 125ml tub available at Superdrug for just £2.29. My main intentions were to use this upon my hair as a leave in conditioner since I heard that Coconut oil was the secret behind Khloe Kardasian's gorgeous, silky locks.

The product is solid so requires warmth to melt before using, I have found placing the tub into a bowl of hot water is the most efficient way to do so. I choose to apply the oil onto damp hair, avoiding the roots and focusing more towards the ends, I then tie my hair up in a high bun and allow the product to sink in over night. Once rinsed the next morning, my hair feels noticeably softer, looks more glossy and of course smells lovely! Do bare in mind that if too much oil is applied to the hair it can appear rather greasy despite best attempts to wash away any excess product.

As well as using this oil as a hair treatment I have thoroughly enjoyed using it on my body, especially upon my legs after shaving. It's really soothing on the skin, leaving it wonderfully smooth throughout the day. This is suitable for all skin types and better yet has not been tested on animals.

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Silky 7-in-1 Dry Shampoo

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Silky 7-in-1 Dry Shampoo - £3.99

I use dry shampoo in my daily hair routine, not only to refresh my hair but also as an alternative to hairspray to give added volume and texture. I've tried a fair few in my time and just recently I came across this one from Garnier, which I had noticed had been mentioned by beauty guru Barbara in a recent video of hers. I decided to give it a go since my current dry shampoo had ran out and I was curious to see how effective it would be. On first impressions I thought the product looked quite dated and appeared like something thrown out of the 80's but I suppose that's what caught my eye. I really like the sweet Vanilla scent and the light weight consistency the spray has, I didn't find it left any noticeable residue in my hair. Although this product does give my hair a boost of freshness I wouldn't say it worked terribly well at giving lasting volume compared with my usual choice of Dove's Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo - which I have to say I probably prefer between the two. Needless to say I think this is worth a try, maybe more so for those with fine hair and especially considering how little it costs.

The 'Beauty Scenario' TAG

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep?
I only have a small collection of foundations so this isn't too tricky for me. My high end choice would definitely be Estee Lauder's Double Wear stay-in-place make up, it works really well with my oily skin and has high coverage that lasts. For my drugstore choice I'd have to pick my current foundation which is Maybelline's  SuperStay Better Skin which I was actually sent to trial a few months ago and have loved it ever since. It's an incredibly affordable liquid foundation, again with high coverage.

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?
If this was a job interview specifically, I'd ignore the situation just to avoid causing any offence or putting my chance of getting the position in jeopardy. I wouldn't want her to think I wasn't focused or taking things seriously, if anything it would probably ease my nerves.

3. You're not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?
My YSL Rouge Volupte just because it's gorgeous from the inside out.

4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?
I probably would have told myself to lay off the kohl pencil liner! I was known for my panda eyes back in my late teens and believe me no one lets me forget it. "USE MASCARA!" For some unusual reason I started using mascara very late in life and now I can't even imagine going about my day without applying one. In terms of hair, I'd encourage myself to embrace my natural waves. I straightened my hair to death back in the day and used hair spray to excess.

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you a) Smile, say thank you, leave and call your mum hysterical b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.
Not in a million years could I pull off a pixie crop, I'd be absolutely devastated! Honestly, I think I would get slightly emotional as awkward as that may be and of course I'd demand a refund.

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which 'do it all' palette do you pack in your makeup bag?
Initially I was thinking my Urban Decay Naked palette but for the past year I have just adored my Sleek i-Divine au natural palette which hasn't left my make up bag. It has the perfect neutral shadow selection, ideal if you want to create a natural every day look or a dramatic smoky eye.

7. Your house has been robbed, don't worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What's the product you really hope is safe?
I'm going to be really boring here and say that there's nothing irreplaceable about make up. If I were to lose everything it could all easily be replaced, I personally don't own any beauty item that is particularly expensive or one of a kind. But touch wood that this never happens!

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven't noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs
I know any friend of mine would treat something they had borrowed from me as their own but should such a thing happen I don't think I would kick up a fuss. I'd be disappointed for sure but I tend to avoid confrontation especially if it's over something so minor.

I TAG you, my lovely readers!

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge - £5.99

I use Real Techniques make up brushes religiously and I honestly don't know how I ever did without them, they are of excellent quality and are so practical to use for foundation, blush, powder etc. I'm not one to use sponges to apply my foundation since my past experience with them hasn't been that great, I find that they soak up product ridiculously and in some cases can be a nightmare to clean. But, of course, my arm was pulled by all the positive feedback I'd read about the Miracle Complexion Sponge and I thought maybe, just maybe this would work for me.

Dove Intensive Repair leave-in conditioning & care spray

Dove Intensive Repair leave-in conditioning & care spray - £3.59

On my last visit to Boots I picked up this new product from Dove simply out of curiosity and I am so glad I did! Last year I was obsessed with the Nourishing Oil leave-in conditioning & care spray (read my review here) but then it suddenly became impossible to find and had completely disappeared from the shelves, since then I have not found anything that compares to it. I noticed this Intensive Repair leave-in conditioning & care spray and thought it had a similar concept and would give the same results. This is a weightless spray that can be applied onto both dry and damp hair to give an intense conditioning treatment and added hydration. The product also helps to protect hair from breakage and to reduce split ends which unfortunately I have a great deal of at the moment. It has a pleasantly fresh scent and doesn't leave behind any excess residue. I find my hair is much more manageable when using this product, releasing my hair of troublesome tangles and knots. I choose to use this after washing my hair, spraying it over whilst damp and before blow drying.
