I had recently watched Zara's, aka MouldyFruit, 'May Favourites' in which she mentioned this particular product and I was instantly intrigued. Nuxe strikes to me as quite a luxury brand and I've only ever owned one product, the 'Huile Prodigieuse', which I absolutely loved. This latest Nuxe dry oil has an added touch of golden shimmer to give a warm glow to the skin, perfect for enhancing your Summer tan. I love how quickly it absorbs and it smells divine. Formulated with Vitamin E it never fails to give my skin hydration and nourishment. A bottle of liquid gold, gorgeous!
MONU Hydrating Moisturiser SPF 15
I've really taken to Monu skincare and I always thoroughly enjoy using their products which I often receive via my GlossyBox subscription. This is a delicate facial moisturiser which has a soft fragrance and light, creamy consistency. I have been using this daily usually in the mornings and as it contains SPF 15 it's ideal for keeping sun damage at bay.
FIGS & ROUGE Coco Rose Lip Balm
This lip balm has become an everyday essential for me, Figs & Rouge are generally my go to for lip treatments and this product has certainly impressed. I always like to have colour on my lips and this balm gives a subtle, pinky rose tint while giving intense hydration without feeling sticky. I like using this as a base to lipstick just to ensure my lips stay moisturised throughout the day.
PAUL MITCHELL Full Circle Leave-in-Treatment and Ultimate Wave
I'm not one to curl my hair, since I already have natural waves and I only ever like to style my hair straight. I have yet to give these two products a try and I must admit I'm a little curious to see if the 'Ultimate Wave' beachy texture cream gel gives my hair the 'sexy, tousled beach waves' it guarantees.
Q Body Spray
Day to day I always wear perfume but have never really considered using a body spray. I tend to get through fragrances like water and probably..or most definitely over use them. I've been keeping this spray in my bag to use as a 'refreshment' especially after taking a long, tedious journey on public transport or throughout a hot, muggy day. It has a pleasant floral fragrance of Rose and Bergamot and doesn't come across as potent as my regular perfumes. I definitely will purchase body sprays in future as they're so practical for everyday use and saves me the hassle of having to carry a valuable bottle of perfume where ever I go.
At the start of the month I went on holiday and as I was only bringing hand luggage I needed some nifty travel sized toiletries. I picked up this 75ml Aussie 'Miracle Moist' conditioner which I have been meaning to try after hearing such great things about it. It has a lovely sweet fragrance to it and is infused with Macadamia nut oil. The product left my hair feeling incredibly smooth, tangle free and completely revived from sun damage and sea water.
SANCTUARY SPA Mela Rose & Pistachio Body Butter
This is probably my favourite Sanctuary Spa product and the 'Mela' range is generally so lovely. Although this body butter is a little costly at £10 a tub, it has lasted me a good while and is always a pleasure to use. It's perfect for a self-pampering sesh after a long hot bath. I prefer using this particular lotion during the Autumn/Winter months so I will most likely be repurchasing it later in the year.
THE BODY SHOP Vitamin E Hydrating Toner
A few months ago I decided to change my choice of skin care when it was brought to my attention that many of the products I was using were involved in animal testing. I have complete trust in The Body Shop as they actively fight against animal testing and I have really taken to their ranges of skin care this year. I have mentioned before about how much I love the Tea Tree selection but this Vitamin E toner has become an essential in my everyday skin routine. It's delicate on the skin and has a fresh scent, any excess make up is removed instantly from my face and my skin tone appears much more even.
NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Mutli-usage Dry Oil
I received this dry oil as a sample from a past GlossyBox, it's a little bottle of luxury and smells divine
I have only been using this on my body as I'm quite hesitant to use this on my face since I already have such oily skin. I now have a sample of the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse OR which I adore but as these dry oils are rather expensive I doubt I would be able to buy a full sized bottle any time soon.
LAYLA D Honey Moisturiser
For months I have been undecided on whether I like this facial moisturiser or not. The scent of the cream itself is not entirely to my taste although the consistency is light and soothing on my skin. Over the past few weeks I have been making use of this product simply to get rid of it. as I have so many unused samples to get through.
THE BODY SHOP Sweet Lemon Shower Gel
This is another travel sized product that I took with me on my holiday and I had been given this for my birthday back in May. I found this gel to be extremely refreshing on the skin and it has a vibrant, zesty scent of lemon which I think is ideal for hot summer days.
I've never used nail wraps before, just because I find them a little pricey considering you cant get multiple use out of them. A while ago I noticed that Primark had it's own selection of nail wraps in different colours and patterns priced at just £1 per pack and a few were even reduced down to 50p! There were only four designs that I liked, the rest appeared quite cheap and tacky with jewelled and animal prints.
I didn't know what to expect when applying these wraps since this was my first time using them. I chose to start with this red with white polka dots design, application seemed simple enough to begin with however I did encounter slight issues with finding the perfect size match for each finger especially my index and middle finger so I had to file them down to scale. Annoyingly there wasn't a single wrap that was a perfect size for any one of my fingers however it's not terribly noticeable. My nails did look a little ridged and messy at a close glance and two of the wraps were peeling off within the hour which was quite disappointing. Surprisingly they managed to stay on throughout a hot bath but by the second day most wraps had completely come off.
I found application much easier the second time round, rather filing away the excess foil it was better the cut it down to scale with nail clippers. These are the first of two floral designs I picked up
I had less trouble with these wraps but I still had the problem with sizing and as you can see my nails were still visible around the edges. I have two more designs I have yet to get wear out of but I will most likely save these for a 'special' occasion.
These nail wraps are ideal for one-off wear, maybe for a night out or an event. I would suggest to apply these as close to the time you want to wear them as you can or before bed so they have time to set over night. Avoid any hands on activity after application (e.g washing up) as they will be less prone to peeling off or becoming chipped. Although these wraps aren't super durable they're worth giving ago considering the cheap price.
Bourjois Paris So Laque Glossy Nail Enamel - £5.99
I have wanted to try the 'So Laque Glossy' range from Bourjois for sometime and last month I was lucky to receive a polish for my birthday from a good friend of mine. This is shade 'Taupe Modele' which is literally taupe, an earthy grey stone-like colour. I do love my nude and 'greige' polishes and this will settle into my collection very well. Personally I prefer to wear shades like this for formal occasions or to wear for work and since 'Taupe Modele' is slightly on the dark side I will probably wear this a lot more during the Autumn/ Winter months.
Application is simple, I found two coats gave an even appearance although a third wouldn't go a miss since I did notice my nails to show through. My nails are given a chic; sleek and effortless look in an instant, the polish itself is durable and is incredibly easy to remove.
I don't usually consider purchasing high street/drugstore branded primers but after I was given Rimmel's 'Fix & Perfect', I thought it was about time I'd see if I could be persuaded. The product has a light weight, creamy texture much like your average facial moisturiser and has a fresh fragrance. It blends well into the skin and although it has a white appearance it doesn't give colour to the face.
I've been using this as a base to my foundation but after several uses I have come to the conclusion that this primer doesn't work with my skin type and just isn't ideal for me. Although the product is pleasant and smooth to apply onto the skin I didn't feel that it worked for giving my face an overall matte, even appearance despite the claims that it 'mattifies'. My skin is rather oily and it takes a lot to keep it under control, this primer did keep shine at bay but only for a short period and I found that by midday my face needed a great deal of blotting to rid of excess oil that had come through. I can't say I noticed any added radiance to my skin after use and I'm not entirely sure what the 'protect' factor stated refers to. Overall I didn't think all of the five properties of this primer were expressed when I used this on my skin which was quite disappointing.
Even though this particular primer hasn't delivered for me personally I have no doubt that it might suit those with normal or dry skin types. It's really soothing and gentle on the face, make up lasts somewhat longer and better yet it's affordable.
