VO5 Give Me Texture Product Trial

Last month I received an email asking if I wish to participate in a product trial courtesy of Cosmopolitan magazine and VO5. Of course I agreed and within a couple of weeks I received my trial which consisted of a full sized shampoo, conditioner and two styling products. I was instructed to use each of these products over a three week period and here is my verdict...

(Left to Right) VO5 Give Me Texture Tousled Style Spray, VO5 Give Me Texture Shampoo & Conditioner and VO5 Give Me Texture Instant Oomph Powder

VO5 Give Me Texture shampoo and regular conditioner

For the first week of the trial I had to wash my hair with the VO5 shampoo along with my regular choice of conditioner. The shampoo lathers extremely well into my locks, I can't quite figure out the fragrance of the product but it does have a fresh and natural scent. This shampoo claims to give 'luscious, tousled hair' and quite right it does! My hair is naturally wavy although I did notice an added bounce and definition to the waves of my hair which I wouldn't have expected from the shampoo alone.

Regular shampoo and VO5 Give Me Texture conditioner

This week I had been using my regular shampoo with the VO5 conditioner. The fragrance of the conditioner is very much the same as the shampoo although a little more subtle. The product has a creamy consistency but isn't too heavy on the hair and doesn't leave behind any residue. After rinsing, my hair was left tangle free and feeling ultra soft however it didn't give the same tousled result as the shampoo had given so I did find myself opting for other products to give my hair the texture I desired.

VO5 Give Me Texture shampoo & conditioner together

Finally by week three I had the chance to use both the VO5 shampoo and conditioner together and after every wash this week I was left with soft, shiny and knot free waves. Each product gave it's own unique input into leaving my hair looking healthy and defined so I definitely would recommend giving this range a try. Since I have natural thick waves I really couldn't say whether these products would work for those of you with straight or fine hair.

Throughout the trial I regularly used the two styling products, the tousled style spray and the 'Oomph' powder. I wasn't particularly impressed with these two personally, I found they just didn't work well with my thick and heavy barnet. The powder is very delicate, with a snowy like appearance, which you rub between your finger tips then into the hair to give volume but with my hair being so thick it would take a lot to make any sort of difference and when it comes to styling I like to use as little product as I possibly can. The spray gave an average result it was OK but not something I would purchase for myself in future. When scrunched into the hair, the spray did give a little definition but it wasn't long lasting and too much product would just dry into the hair and make it hard.

Overall I was happy to have taken part in this trial and overall I think the VO5 Give Me Texture shampoo and conditioner gave the most effective results out of the four products. I'm not exactly certain whether I will buy this range out of preference, although I was pleased with the outcome I wasn't greatly keen on the scent of the products and for me my choice of haircare is highly influenced by the fragrance. The styling products would suit finer, lighter hair but that is only my opinion I can't guarantee it.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Facial Wash

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash - £5.00

With my love for Tea Tree god knows why I hadn't thought to try the Tea Tree range found at The Body Shop sooner! One of my favourite skin care products is Dr Bronner's Magic Liquid  Soap with Tea Tree and I have been looking out for a slightly cheaper alternative and so I picked up this facial wash for a nifty price of £5. This product claims to remove impurities from blemish prone skin, leaving it thoroughly cleansed and treated. The consistency of the product is light and leaves a matte feeling on the face once rinsed. I have been using this facial wash morning and night to refresh my face and it definitely rids my skin of any excess oil and shine. Results didn't show straight away for me, it took a few days for me to notice any improvement with my blemishes but my skin does look so much more clearer especially since having recently broken out and I'm certain I will be repurchasing this product from now on.

I'm  interested to try more products from this range especially the facial exfoliating pads and the blemish gel. Have you tried this range at all? I'd love to know what you recommend.

A Christmas Message...

Hello Beauties,

With the official end of Christmas Day approaching fast I wanted to say a short, sweet message to you all...better late than never. I hope every one of you had a very merry Christmas this year with your loved ones and I'm sure some of you managed to get spoilt with some wonderful beauty treats too. I'd like to of course say a thank you to my followers and to anyone who regularly reads my blog, I really appreciate all your lovely feedback. I must apologise for the lack of posts so far this month but I've just been rather distracted by all the Christmas hype and what not and I promise there are plenty more to come in the next few weeks :)

Now I think it's time to get some beauty sleep as I'm sure it's fair to say we've all eaten ridiculously today and have finally given up on the naff Christmas telly.

GlossyBox: Festive Celebrations

Last year, the December GlossyBox was fabulous so I was very excited for this year's to arrive at my door step. The 'Festive Celebrations' silver box has been filled with some gorgeous products which have all been so lovely to try and have even become true favourites!

RITUALS Magic Touch

In last year's December box I received the Rituals foaming shower gel in the same scent of 'Cherry Blossom' which is a really subtle and delightful fragrance. This body cream consists of Rice Milk which leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft, nourished and smelling so heavenly. The consistency of the product is light and melts instantly into the skin, it's perfect for applying after a hot bath or shower. I'd definitely recommend this particular body cream, I've really fallen for it and I am trying my best to use it sparingly so it lasts me well into the new year.

SECHE Nail Lacquer

I've wanted a nail varnish shade like this for a while now and at last I have one to own. I received shade 'Elegant' which is a copper/bronze colour that seems to wear well this season. It's a metallic varnish however it isn't overly shiny which I much prefer, I think polishes look much better when they have a more matte finish. Two coats gives a gorgeous warm colour to the nails and it's rather durable, so no dreaded chips.

MILK_SHAKE Conditioning Whipped Cream

This product has become a real favourite of mine and I'm not exaggerating when I say it is delicious! It has a yummy scent which I can only describe as  the creamiest of cream sodas, it smells good enough to eat and even looks exactly like whipped cream. This is a conditioning product which is applied onto wet hair with no need to rinse, just style as normal. My hair has noticeably felt much softer and appears in better condition after every use, I may be using this a little too often so I'm a little worried that it won't be lasting me far into the new year but I think I will definitely consider purchasing it in future.

SLEEK MAKEUP i-Divine True

A beautiful  eye shadow palette with twelve warm earthy and metallic tones that are perfectly suited for my eye colour. I have been enjoying this product so much this month I'm beginning to think it may be better than my Urban Decay 'Naked' palette which has been a long time love of mine! At only £7.99 this is a great beauty bargain and is ideal for experimenting with different tones to create both natural and smoky eye looks.  These mineral based shadows seem to sit well onto the lids without any need of a primer and blend extremely well together. My favourite of the twelve colours so far would have to be 'Taupe', 'Bark', 'Mineral Earth' and 'Regal'. I'd really like to try more shadow palettes from Sleek as I've been so overly impressed with this one.

ANATOMICALS 'what a complete and utter glosser'

As I'm sure I've said many times before I'm not overly keen on using lip gloss on my lips, they're always too sticky and are especially a nightmare to wear on a windy day when your hair sticks to your lips and all that nonsense. This gloss has a cheeky scent of strawberry milkshake and gives a sweet, colourless glaze over the lips. I can't say I'll make great use of this product although it could make a good stocking filler.

I don't tend to wear blusher in the Winter so I'll be saving this for the sunny days of Spring. This blush, in shade 'Glossy Rosewood', is a product of GlossyBox included in this month's box as a little bonus treat for Christmas. The product appears to be easily build-able to create a rosy effect for your cheeks to your preference, it's also pocket sized which is great for slipping into a travel bag.

SheSaidBeauty December Box

I'm really gutted that this is the last box SheSaidBeauty will be distributing to subscribers as they have come to the decision to end their monthly Beauty Box service. Instead the focus will be the SheSaidBeauty website itself to make it the UK's leading social network for beauty.

Considering that this is the December and final edition I did expect the box to have a more special and festive touch to it but nevertheless I was happy with what I received...

BOURJOIS Magic Nail Polish Remover

I've seen this product mentioned by all my favourite beauty bloggers and have heard good feedback but still to this day I have not got round to buying it for myself. Retailed at £4.99 I've always thought that was a little pricey considering you can get just as good results from cotton wool and an inexpensive polish remover for half the price. I was pleased to see that this is a full sized sample so should last me a good while, trusting that it doesn't dry out. I couldn't ignore the strong, potent fragrance of the product when opening it, it's quite in your face and I have found myself having to use it at a distance. The scent is described as red fruit and vanilla which I did notice however it doesn't come across straight away. My nails feel really nourished and cared for once I have used the product and nearly all of my polish was removed in a matter of seconds. I may contemplate purchasing this in future but most likely if it was on offer.

ORICO Superico Vitamin Rich Face Oil

My skin has really been misbehaving this Winter, it looks so lifeless and has had a few dry spells. This vitamin rich face oil promises to rehydrate skin straight away with essences of Jojoba, Patchouli, Bergamot and Lavender. There weren't any directions on how to apply the product but I have been applying it to the face after a hot bath just before bed for a little skin pampering. It appears to be a dry oil as it doesn't grease my face and sinks in well into the skin.

DR DUVE Anti Ageing + Firming eye cream

At 22 years of age I can't say I have any issues with puffy eyes or wrinkles and touch wood I won't any time soon. I have been using this eye cream since there's no reason it should go to waste, it has a pleasant scent and doesn't sit heavy on the skin.

TECHNIC Nail Varnish in Tawny Port

I'm always welcome to try a new nail varnish and Technic is a brand I'm not yet aware of. 'Tawny Port' is a deep purple shade better suited to wear this season so I have been wearing it for the past couple of days and have really taken to it, although it does make my hands look a little on the pale side. The varnish appears to be durable and two coats give a perfect result. This is a full sized sample which regularly retails at £1.25, a great bargain!

DR DUVE Skin Boosting Cream

This particular face cream has been developed for sensitive skin aiming to firm, rejuvenate and soothe. The cream is gentle and has a similar scent to the eye cream and feels lovely on my face however it doesn't leave a matte finish which doesn't suit well with my oily skin. A full sized tub will set you back a ridiculous £129.00 and I'm certainly not prepared to invest in to it as there are plenty other affordable products that give just as good results.

AMIE Spring Clean Cooling Clay Mask

I received this face mask in my September SheSaidBeauty box  and thoroughly enjoyed it. This clay mask refreshes and cleanses the skin an has a cooling and calming scent of peppermint. After 10 minutes my skin feels much softer and cared for and I would suggest to use once a week to avoid drying out the skin.

JING Whole Leaf Teabags

When it comes to tea I've got to have a good old standard cuppa! I'm not keen on flavoured teas but I really wish that I was since there's so much variety out there. Although I like the smell of brewing Earl Grey I can't say I like the taste so unfortunately I won't use these.

Santa Baby...

Tis Christmas time beautiful people! December came incredibly quick and this whole year in general has flown by and since we're all getting into a festive mood I thought I'd pick five products that I wouldn't at all mind finding under my Christmas tree.

Liz Earle Skincare Starter Gift Set (17.50) Viktor & Rolf Eau de Parfum (price varies) The Body Shop Ginger Sparkle Bath Crystals (£12.00) Clarisonic Mia (price varies) Benefit The POREfessional (£23.50*)

As a beauty blogger I'm a little embarrassed to have not yet had any form of Liz Earle product in my hands and with every beauty guru raving about the wonder that is the Cleanse and Polish, I thought this Skin Care Starter Gift Set would be perfect for a Liz Earle virgin like myself. I have a fair few perfumes in mind that I would love get this Christmas and Flowerbomb by Viktor &Rolf is one that I have been lusting over for months! Ginger is such a festive scent and at the moment I've taken to the Ginger Sparkle collection, part of the seasonal range at The Body Shop and these bath crystals would be so indulgent in a hot bath this Winter. Although I'm a bit hesitant about investing in the Clarisonic I was a little reassured to see that there is a brush head available for sensitive skin and with my skin so prone to breakouts I think this is ideal. Benefits POREfessional is definitely the best primer I have used and is kind to my oily complexion...there's always space in my make up bag for another!

Let me know what you've wished for this Christmas, I'd love for you to share some ideas and I hope you're all having a lovely month. Have you been naughty or nice this year?

Enamoured: 80 Years of Revlon

On Friday evening I visited the Enamoured: 80 Years of Revlon exhibition held at the London Film Museum in Covent Garden. The exhibition had been created to celebrate 80 years of Revlon as an iconic beauty brand and to portray the story behind its incredible success over eight decades. Showcasing exclusive Revlon artefacts the exhibition explored the development of the brand through the years with advertisements and products dating back to the 1930's.

'Architecture Of An Empire' Founder Charles Revson
Some of Revlon's earliest print campaigns | 'Revlon Red', 1988
'Drip Dresses' 'Lips & Tips'
'Fire and Ice' campaign, 1952 | Revlon nail enamels
Rita Ora, a Revlon client 'Cherry'

A history lesson like no other, the exhibition really emphasised the influence Revlon had on women since it was discovered in 1932 by Charles Revson. It was so interesting to see that the glamorous and inspiring Audrey Hepburn was once a face of the brand and the story behind the oh so famous 'Red Sole' of Christian Louboutin was really unexpected.

Unique art installations gave an added edge to the showcase from an acrylic nail disco ball to an over sized varnish bottle made up of over 2,000 Revlon polishes although my favourite had to be 'Baton Rouge' (below) made of hundreds of resin lipsticks.

''Baton Rouge'

Unfortunately the exhibition only ran over four days, ending today, so if you were lucky enough to visit it this weekend I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

GlossyBox: Stocking Fillers

AYUURI Sandalwood Face Cream

Despite the fact that I really dislike the smell of Sandalwood I have been using this face cream, not only does it leave my skin really soft it also keeps the appearance of my face matte. My skin is usually very oily when I wake up in the mornings but since I began using this cream before bedtime there has definitely been a reduction to the shine on my face the next day. This is a generously large sample so I will get a great amount of use out of it.

BURBERRY Burberry Body Eau de Parfum

I'm a little undecided as to whether I like this fragrance or not, it's not at all what I expected it to be. Scented with rose, cashmeran and green absinthe this is a very sultry perfume probably better suited for the older woman, in my opinion. Ideal for evening wear say for a dinner date or cocktails and compliments the Winter season very well. I really like the bottle design of the perfume, it's very sophisticated and is a perfect size to keep in my handbag.

Another body butter to add to my box of lotions and potions, this is a very sweet, fruity lotion that soothes and nourishes my skin with cocoa butters and mango. I have been applying this straight after bath time to give my body a good old pampering in the evening. I wouldn't purchase the full sized product out of choice as I have many other favourites that come at a cheaper price.

NAILS INC Kensington Caviar Top Coat

It would have been nice to receive a nail colour in my box nevertheless I am sure I will make use of this top coat from Nails Inc. This is a very small sample so will only do me good for a short while however it will come in handy especially when I'm experimenting with nail art techniques.

DERMALOGICA Daily Microfoliant

I was very intrigued when I first used this product as it's not like any other skin care I have used before. This is a rice-based powder that you apply onto wet hands to create a paste like substance which is then massaged into the skin and rinsed. The powder itself is very similar to baking soda which can also be used on skin as a home made cleanser. After using this product I didn't notice any dramatic results to my skin so I am not so sure I would depend on the full sized tub which retails at a harsh £38.50.

I absolutely love Lush, have done for years, and since I don't often visit the store I decided to stock up on some bath time goodies on my most recent visit.

(Clockwise from top left)

CINDERS Bath Ballistic £2.25
This ballistic is a real treat this Autumn/Winter, perfect for a hot bath at the end of a chilly day. Scented with Cinnamon, Orange and Almond oil this bath bomb fills the room with gorgeous aromas and leaves my skin soothed. This product does tint bath water so be cautious of any stains around the tub.

SO WHITE Bath Ballistic £3.20
'So White' was the first product I chose as I was instantly drawn to it's fragrance of Neroli and Bergamot. This snowball like bath bomb melts in the bath until it's pink centre fizzes into the water giving an instant pop of colour.

CANDY MOUNTAIN Bubble Bar £2.45
A deliciously sweet bubble bar that creates the bubbliest of bubble baths! This has always been one of my favourite scents found in LUSH products because it's just so yummy. Just crumble under a running tap for a bath as soft and fluffy as candy floss.

YUZU & COCO Bubbleroon £2.95
This Bubbleroon has a macaroon like appearance (hence the product name) with a blissful smell of shea butter and is enriched with Bergamot and Coconut oil. After using this product I couldn't help but notice just how soft it had left my skin. My only criticism would be that I found that the bubbles created by the bar weren't as long lasting compared to 'Candy Mountain'.

PHOENIX RISING Bath Ballistic £3.20
I believe this is a new product so I was eager to give it a try, it is a beautiful purple sprinkled with gold shimmer and smells very indulgent. Drop the ballistic into the tub and it bursts with aromas of cinnamon, cocoa butter and organic oils giving a vibrant blackcurrant tint to the bath water.

Chanel Beauty

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour - £18.00
Chanel Levres Scintillantes Glossimer - £21.00

I received these Chanel gems from my team at work as a leaving gift and I was so chuffed as I've not yet owned a single item of Chanel make up. This nail polish is in shade 18 ' Rouge Noir' which is a very deep, dark red wine colour so perfect for this season. Two coats creates an intense, classic look on the nails. The only small thing I would have to criticise is the width of the applicator brush, it's a little on the thin side so it takes a quite few strokes for a full even coat. I'm not usually a lip gloss kind of girl but the Levres Scintillantes Glossimer in 164 'Plaisir' is a little delight, although it doesn't give a tint to my lips it does give a soft, subtle glaze and it isn't ridiculously sticky compared to most glosses I have used before. Both products are presented in such recognisably chic black and gold packaging and are examples of pure quality make up.

SheSaidBeauty November Box

ANDREW BARTON Hold It Right There Surefix Grips and Ponybands

I always seem to misplace (lose) hair bands and hair grips so these ones by Andrew Barton will come in use I'm sure. Lucky for me I'm a brunette and I don't think these products would settle well with blondes or redheads since they are brown and would look rather odd to wear and they generally have an unusual appearance anyway. The ponybands are super strong however with my thick hair it is a struggle to stretch the band wide enough so would probably work better for smaller pigtails rather than one entire pony tail. The grips are pretty average but always a necessity when creating high up do hair styles or a simple messy bun.

WELEDA Wild Rose Smoothing Night Cream

This is my second or third Weleda product that I have tried as a sample and once again I'm fairly impressed.  This is a gentle night cream which settles lightly on the skin but I can't say there's a noticeable scent of rose in fact I've actually found every Weleda face cream I have used has had the same fragrance. Nevertheless I have applied it before bedtime every night this past week and have no complaints.

REDKEN Smooth Lock Shampoo & Conditioner

Redken is probably my favourite hair care brand and if only the products were more affordable then I'd most likely purchase them regularly. I knew instantly these sample sachets would give a great result and that they did! My hair literally felt like I'd just left the salon it was so soft and tamed which lasted until my next wash although I'm gutted that I only managed to get one use out of these samples.

MAKEBELIEVE enchance Luminize Skin Highlighter

Embarrassingly I only have a couple of highlighters and I don't even use them so I definitely plan on using this one by Makebelieve - a brand I have not till now been aware of. With a few festive plans ahead in the next couple of months I would really like to wear this highlighter to add a glow to my face despite the freezing temperatures we've been putting up with. The product is a gorgeous glistening champagne shade and is small and compact to fit perfectly into a make up bag or clutch.

YARDELY Royal English Daisy Eau de Toilette

Admittedly I'm not a huge fan of Yardely fragrances, judging by what I have tried previously, however this Daisy scented eau de toilette is pleasant and fresh to wear. Personally I think it's better suited to wear during Summer days of sunshine so I will probably hang on to it to use next year. This is not a product I would choose to invest in for myself but possibly to give as a gift.

MURRAYS MANOCURE Matchbook Nail Files

These darling little nail files are sure to come in handy to pop into my bag for any fix ups I may need out and about. They have an adorable pink stripped pattern and come as five per pack.

You will need:

A white or light coloured polish for a base coat
Three colours of your choice
Nail varnish remover
Cotton buds
Clear polish to finish

I also found this video tutorial very useful:

Victoria's Secret Coconut Passion Hydrating Body Lotion

Victoria's Secret Coconut Passion Hydrating Body Lotion - price varies

This divine product is a gift from the 'in-laws' (the boy's parents) and I absolutely adore it. Despite visiting the Victoria's Secret Bond Street store a couple of months back, I didn't actually get a chance to purchase anything what with all the rush of Vogue Fashion's Night Out so I was delightfully surprised when I was handed this beauty. This is the Hydrating Body Lotion in 'Coconut Passion' and I'm aware that there is a whole variety of scents to choose from. The lotion has a gorgeous fragrance of Vanilla and Coconut which are two of my many favourite smells and I've enjoyed wearing this on my skin as it is enriched with extracts of Aloe and Grapeseed along with Vitamins E and C which are so nourishing. The product has the perfect consistency, not too heavy or too delicate and doesn't leave any oily residue. It's perfect for applying after a hot bubble bath and is definitely suited for a self pamper fact that's what I'm planning to do right now!

17 Smoulder Gel Eyeliner

17 Smoulder Gel Eyeliner - £3.99

I decided to give gel eye liner another go after my EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner by Maybelline, that I  loved, dried out. This 16 hour wear gel liner by 17 has recently been introduced on the shelves and with a price so low there was no reason not to at least try it out. After a few uses I can't say this product has wowed me, I'd give it an average rating and to be blunt I got what I paid for. The pot of gel comes with a small applicator which was rather useless and you'll definitely need to use an angled brush if you want that precision and perfect cat eye flick. I expected a much sleeker line to be created with this gel however it was much more matte and gave the same texture as a Kohl liner pencil would. I think this may work fairly well as a base for eye shadow, as the box suggests, although my main concern with this product is with how easy it comes off  when I simply rub my finger tips across my lids so I'm not quite so sure it would be terribly durable.

Despite not being overly impressed with the Smoulder Gel Eyeliner I am still open to try more gel liners of other brands so I'm happy for any recommendations from my readers.

GlossyBox: DIY Beauty Box

ANATOMICALS Don't just clean it woman, scrub it body scrub
I have to admit lately I haven't been exfoliating my skin as well as I should be so this body scrub came at the right time. Until now I hadn't tried or used any products by Anatomicals and after my first experience I'm not too impressed and feel quite let down. I was expecting the scrub to have a strong, yummy grapefruit burst to it however the scent is barely there and doesn't leave my skin smelling as fruity as I'd hoped for. I also didn't think this polished my skin a great deal either so I will have to opt into purchasing a much more effective body scrub.

DERMALOGICA 3 Step day and night kit
I've noticed repetition of products inside past GlossyBoxes and it seems to have happened again although this time I'm not too disappointed. I have had this 3 step kit before and I found that it did genuinely do some good for my skin type my favourite product being the matte moisturiser which keeps shine at bay for most of the day. The foaming wash takes of my make up effortlessly, leaving my skin feeling squeaky clean and the purifying toner refreshes my skin both morning and night.

SKINETICA Anti-Blemish
Close to receiving this product I came down with a terrible breakout which began after trying out a new foundation sample, Clarin's Skin Illusion you are not my friend! This solution played a huge part when it came to clearing my sudden spots and blemishes, it took around 2-3 days to show noticeable results which is exactly what the product guarantees. This is to be applied every 12 hours however I have been using it with a cotton pad just before bedtime each night but the sample itself, unfortunately, is too small to last me a good while.

YVES ROCHER FRANCE Moisturising Cream Lipstick
I'm a little baffled as to why lipstick has been included in this particular GlossyBox considering the products were chosen for a 'cosy night in', nevertheless I have really taken to it. This is shade 101 'Framboise' which is a sexy, bold red which is probably the first red that does't make me appear washed out when I'm wearing it. The product doesn't dry out my lips and seems to be durable although I haven't had the chance to wear it throughout a whole day as of yet.

Autumn Favourites

Batiste Dry Shampoo 'Sassy & Daring Wild' (£2.50) Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (£8.99) Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss (£5.49) No 7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking wipes (£7) L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (free with Marie Claire) Models Own/Essie nail polish (each part of a set)

Batiste Dry Shampoo 'Sassy & Daring Wild'
I have been using Batiste for years but have never really been a fan of the fragrance choices offered, that was until I tried the 'Sassy & Daring Wild' edition. Along with it's fabulous leopard print packaging, this sassy dry shampoo has a long lasting sultry scent that gives a sexy boost of freshness and volume to my hair.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
I gave a review on this earlier this month, read this post if you would like to have a look. This brush is perfect for liquid foundation, it blends so well and gives even coverage. The bristles are incredibly soft and gently buff product onto the skin. Real Techniques brushes can be purchased in Boots however I found this one for around £1 cheaper on Amazon

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss
After watching Vivianna's 'Top 5 Bold Lip Products' I decided I should take a risk and try a new shade for my lips. As you may or may not know I keep safe with simple peaches or pinks for my lips but I thought it was time for a change and to start wearing a colour better suited to this season. This lipstick is in shade '107' which is a vampy, blackcurrant like colour and I've really taken a liking to it. I haven't been able to wear it a great deal as it's slightly too bold for wearing around the office but I'm looking forward to wearing it on a night out.

No 7  Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking face wipes
I've never actually purchased the No 7  Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking face wipes as I think £7 a pack is pretty ridiculous however with a trusty £5 No 7 voucher you can get them for a much more pleasing price of £2. Since I had managed to gather a whole bundle of vouchers I thought I'd stock up on a couple of packs as face wipes are always a necessity. The wipes themselves are really lovely and I would regularly buy them if they weren't so over priced. They leave my skin soft and cleansed, taking away all traces of make up and they smell really nice too.

L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream
Last Christmas I bought my dear mother a L'Occitane gift set which included this particular hand cream and I have adored it ever since so I was thrilled to see it as a freebie with this month's Marie Claire. I know it's not going to last me because I can't seem to stop rubbing it on my hands! The cream leaves my hands so soft and nourished and doesn't have an over powering scent.

Models Own/Essie nail polish
I found these gems in TK Maxx last month, along with a few others, and these shades have been my favourites this season. They may not be your typical Autumn colours but they have all complimented my outfits of the past couple of months. My favourite of the three is definitely Essie's 'Geranium', this is a gorgeous red which lasts days on my nails without chipping! Shades 'Jade Stone' and  'Beth's Blue' are not fair off from being considered as pastel shades but I think that they are still wearable despite these dull days.

SheSaidBeauty October Box

CELLNIQUE Advanced Bio Renewal Masque
I have to agree with most reviews I've read, this sample is just too small, which is such a shame because I would have liked to have got more than one use out of it. I was quite off put  by this product on first instinct as it began to sting my skin when I applied it and I was unsure whether I could bare it but gradually my skin felt more comfortable. There were no instructions of how long to keep the mask on so I chose a safe 5 minutes after which my face felt incredibly cleansed and polished.

B.LIV Off With Those Heads
I suffer from awful blackheads and find it really difficult to get rid of them so I was reassured to find this in this month's box but I was left pretty disappointed. Basically this product had no effect whatsoever on my skin so unfortunately there's not really much to say about it.

HERBACIN Wuta Kamile Hand Cream
Hand cream is not usually a necessity for me but I think it's time I take better care of my hands so I will be making use of this product. The cream has a thick consistency that I would consider to be more of a balm never the less my hands are left feeling moisturised and conditioned every time.

BIAO Beauty Rejuvenating Night Creme
This is a gentle, soothing night cream perfect for applying before bed time, it's light on the skin and has a soft floral fragrance. The sample came as a sachet which hasn't lasted me at all, after a matter of days it is already empty, and despite how much I liked using it I probably wouldn't purchase the full product.

KERASTRAIGHT Moisture and Protein Masks
Currently I'm trying out the Tresemme Smooth Keratin range so I've only had the chance to use one of these two hair masks. The moisture mask has a pleasant melon like smell and left my hair feeling soft and manageable. The only downside is that the one sachet wasn't enough for my long, thick hair so I probably didn't get the full effect of the product. I'm hoping that the protein mask will give just as good results as my hair doesn't seem to be at it's best right now.

I think it is fair to say that not all of us are sensible when it comes to vitamins and with Autumn here and Winter on it's way vitamins are vital when keeping nasty colds and flu's at bay. I usually take Vitamin C with Zinc which I purchase from Holland and Barrett and I must say it has improved my immune system a great deal. In my box I received a pack of  MyVitamins Chromium tablets (30 tablets), honestly I have no idea what health benefits these have so I may need to do a little research before taking them.
